Burning Man (BM) & BM Regionals

Burning Man (BM) is a temporary arts city in the desert, filled with sculptures, art trucks, cars, and bikes, alongside over a thousand camps dedicated to art, music, dance, wellness, and sexuality, featuring imaginative outfits and costumes.

Originating in the mid-1980s in San Francisco, California, United Sates, Burning Man is an annual celebration of radical self-expression, radical inclusion, and a rejection of corporatism and capitalism. Participants recreate fantasy personas through elaborate costumes in the nature-immersed environment of the Nevada desert, where interdisciplinary arts flourish. This space, often called ‘Home’, allows individuals to shed their egos and connect authentically, sharing their best qualities with one another.

Mutant vehicles, which are art vehicles of various sizes and shapes, are prominent at these events, serving as moving art structures, as music stages for free-flow dancing and performances, and as transport within the venue. Costume-art-related camps and boutiques distribute free costumes and outfits and crafting stations fostering creativity and participation.

Burning Man has nowadays evolved into a global cultural phenomenon, with regional events across most states in the U.S. and worldwide on several continents.

FUNDSTUME plans to participate in Burning Man and its regional events, operating their own art truck and costume camp. In this environment, FUNDSTUME emphasizes community, connection, subculture, and promotes costume art through collaborations with costume-oriented camps like Kostume Kult and mutant vehicles such as the Xuza Artcar.

Through its Grant Giving Program, FUNDSTUME will provide funding to several out of 57+ organizations for running their events and to select independent groups and individuals for carrying out activities related to costume art and mutant vehicle art within those. In addition to financial support, FUNDSTUME will offer human resources for project execution and fiscal sponsorship services.
