Empowering Marginalized Communities through Costume Art

FUNDSTUME, as in FUNDing coSTUMEs, is committed to promoting, preserving, and supporting human and artistic expression through costume art and the humanities. We empower marginalized communities shaped by factors such as culture, ethnicity, race, gender, orientation, age, neurodivergence and disability, using art to drive social change and community transformation. We fund and implement nonprofit projects that focus on exploring identity, preserving cultural heritage, and fostering advocacy through research, workshops, exhibits, and performances.

Who We Are

We are a dynamic and expanding community of creatives, scholars, and professionals from various fields, including art, culture, history, anthropology, religion, fashion, technology, and philanthropy. Our collective is brought together by a shared commitment to support underrepresented, marginalized, and excluded communities, empowering them to explore and express their unique individual and collective identities through costume art.

We operate under the umbrella of the following three key entities we are in the process of establishing:

What We Do

We are currently developing the following three programs below for funding and carrying out nonprofit projects and providing services for communities affected by cultural, racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, religious, gender, and sexual identity factors.

Projects Execution

We will implement our own projects that span a wide range of events and activities, including research, workshops, exhibitions, lectures, art vehicle creation, and virtual reality events. These projects will be conducted in diverse environments and will involve collaborations with a variety of communities, organizations and individuals, supported by our growing network.

Grant Giving

This program will provide grants to nonprofit organizations for broad projects related to costume art, art vehicles, culture, history, anthropology, religion, fashion, and technology.

Fiscal Sponsorship

This program will support organizations and individuals who need to receive donations for specific projects but do not currently have 501(c)(3) status.

Projects

We will engage with communities, organizations, and individuals across the various environment types, funding their projects and organizing a wide range of events and activities, including research, workshops, exhibitions, lectures, art vehicle creation, and virtual reality events. These events and activities address factors related to cultural, racial/ethnic, historical, socioeconomic, religious, gender, and sexual identities.

Environments

We will engage with communities, organizations and individuals who operate in the environments such as the following, giving them grants and carrying out events and activities that address cultural, racial/ethnic, historical, socioeconomic, religious, gender, and sexual identities factors.

Where We Are

We will operate primarily in the United States (Western and Southern regions), with a significant presence in Canada, Central America and Europe, and additional initiatives in other regions around the world.
